Public Invited to Regional Airport Grand Opening

Public Invited to Regional Airport Grand Opening

SIOUX COUNTY – A new regional airport that will broaden the transportation future of the region will have its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Nov. 14. All are invited to the ceremony at the Sioux County Regional Airport, a nearly $32 million joint project by Orange City, Sioux Center and Sioux County. The new airport boasts a 5,500-foot runway – which can serve business jets, a parallel taxiway, a terminal, multiple hangars, fueling systems, safety approach lighting, weather observation station, and additional airport features. The regional airport is also home to six private hangars and additional leased hangar spaces. Thirty-five airplanes are expected to be housed at the site. “Partnerships formed over a period of nearly 20 years have allowed us to do a first-class aviation project to serve industry, business, medical, agricultural, charter, private air service, and other travel interests,” said Sioux County Regional Airport Agency Board Chairman Harold Schiebout. “The strong partnership between two communities and the county is the backbone of this project, along with the great partnership we have with the FAA and Iowa DOT.” Prior to this project, the airports in the county had constraints that limited usage and aircraft size. “The economic impact will be significant, allowing existing industries and businesses to grow and provide employment by expanding their national reach,” Schiebout said. Schiebout noted that private fundraising for the project was also very successful, drawing more than $750,000 for safety features and airport enhancements. “This grand opening will be a great opportunity for the public to view the regional airport and the positive impact those partnerships have had in developing this project,” he said. The grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting begins at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Sioux County Regional Airport, at 3153 460th Street, Maurice, Iowa, 51036. Lunch and self-guided tours will follow from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m

After School Program ~ Kids' Club

Hull Kids' Club is a fun, safe, nurturing faith-based after school program for students in grades K-3. It's a great opportunity for kids to spend time with each other, volunteers, and Jesus Christ. The program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at American Reformed Church in Hull. New students will need to be registered first, by filling out and turning in a registration form to the church. Then, you will be contacted by co-directors Inisha Hoehamer or Sylvia Eekhoff with a day for your student to start. We want to make sure we have an adequate amount of volunteers to make Kids’ Club an enjoyable place for your student. English and Spanish registration forms can be found by clicking the link below.
